Some people go searching for a pot
of gold at the rainbow’s end, but I received
a priceless treasure the day you became
my friend. You believe in me, while others
question my worth, trusting that I have a
purpose and place on this earth. By showing
me a wealth of affection, you’ve given me
a bounty of hope that the best is yet
to come. You’ve taught me friendship
is less about what you say and more
about what you do, and a real friend
can’t be bought or sold. Not even for a pot
of gold. I find no fault with those
who seek riches near a colorful arch
that sun rays slice through. However,
when searching for the kind of gold
I’ve found, a rainbow just won’t do.
