Fixed Hair Disaster

I was dating a woman for about 2 weeks and she made an issue about my salt and pepper hair. It is “premature grey.” It is a hereditary trait, It is who I am. She didn’t like it. She wanted to change my hair.

I thought she wanted it all black. I went along with her desire to color my hair, once.
She brought over a hair coloring set, one of those boxes with small tube of hair dye from CVS or a grocery store. So after some discussion, after I said I decided no, I sat in a chair and let her do her thing.
I agreed so then I was obligated to let it happen.

Long story short, I wake up and my salt and pepper hair that was originally all black and major part of who I was, was brown. I combed my hair and got dressed and went to work. People noticed. They didn’t like it.

One woman asked “What happened? Brown hair?” She paused a minute and continued “Did your girlfriend do that?” I said “Yes.” The woman nodded “I thought so. It’s not good. Go back to black.”

At first I wore hats, But I don’t like hats. So after a week or so, I notice the roots showing signs of grey and black. I go to the nearest barber, on my day off, and have the guy shorten the hair to show more black and grey than brown. He did his best, but he didn’t want to go too short. There wasn’t enough at the top yet without looking like Bert on Sesame Street. I had enough problems at that point. SO he shortened it. He buzzed the sides like a military high and tight. Then, I went to hair salon, primarily for ladies, to get some help getting as much brown out of the hair that remained. The salon girl who helped with my hair asked how did it get brown in the first place. I told her “my girlfriend did it because,” she interrupted me “Oh, Say no more. The girlfriend wanted it brown. Girl, please.” She cut as much brown hairs out as she could, in one set of small strands at a time. She put some liquid in the hair to neutralize the brown hair dye.

I settled the matter finally by saying to the girlfriend, I will let the rest grow and cut the brown out completely and that is the last time I will let that happen. I told her plainly I am keeping my hair the way it came naturally. This is how God made me to be. If you have a problem, take it up with God.

Take me as I am our take yourself down the road. She broke off the engagement to get married, and later moved to Brazil.
