Easy to Make Doggie Shoes

Protect your doggie’s feet with homemade doggie shoes. This simply to make item requires two matching pairs of children’s mittens. The mittens must be the right size for the doggie’s feet so try them on that special pooch prior to starting the project.

Things You’ll Need:

2 pairs children’s mittens
Scissors
Straight pins
Sewing machine
Thread
¼-inch elastic

Directions:

Step 1 – Turn the children’s mittens inside out. Cut the thumb off each mitten so the cut line is ¼-inch from the edge of the mitten. Pin the opening closed.

Step 2 – Sew a ¼-inch straight seam across the pinned area.

Step 3 – Wrap a piece of ¼-inch elastic just above your doggie’s ankle. Add 1-inch to the length and cut. Use the cut piece of elastic as the measurement for three more pieces. Cut the elastic pieces and set them aside.

Step 4 – Position the ¼-inch elastic approximately 1-inch from the opening on the child’s mitten. Place the sewing machine needle through the center of the elastic at the very end. Stitch approximately three stitches then back stitch.

Step 5 – Pull the elastic while sewing down the center. The end of the elastic will overlap the beginning by approximately ½-inch. Pull the elastic accordingly while sewing. Repeat the process with the remaining three mittens.

Step 6 – Turn the mittens right side out and slide on your doggie’s feet.
