Did Disney Bosses Admonish Whoopi for Dissing ‘Chilly’ Florida?

Today on “The View”, co-host Whoopi Goldberg began her morning chit chat with a little diatribe on the unwelcome weather she’d experienced in Florida. Whoopi – her usual hilarious self – rained and sleated a few choice barbs down upon the state for being too chilly for her tastes. Her co-host gals all had a laugh about it and the rest of the show got under way as smoothly as usual.

A few segments later, Barbara said something like, “What do you want to say about Florida, Whoopi?” Whoopi then apologized – or more accurately clarified – her position on the apparently less than warm state of the state. She talked about the ‘oranges’ and the ‘people walking along the beach during sunset.’ There was a bit of tension and Barbara said something like, ‘I’m sorry I brought it up!’ Elizabeth Hasselbeck also said something like, ‘Yes where Mickey Mouse and Minnie live!’

Would people considering going on a jaunt as tourists to Florida be put off by hearing Whoopi say how chilly it was for her? Could Whoopi’s cold weather forecast put the chill on vacationeers down south? Heavens Mouskeeteers, say it isn’t so!

Now it wasn’t stated on air, nor was hinted at to more than that, but we all know that Disney owns ABC who in turns owns “The View.” We all know that Florida is the home state, the home turf and base where Disney’s vast kingdom is located. So it’s not without some healthy sense of well founded speculation that the powers that be perhaps chastised Barbara Walters and or Whoopi Goldberg about ‘dissing Disney’s state’ – or at least chilling them out over her sponantaneous, though comedic weather report.

Whoopi Goldberg is one of the most outspoken and honest celebrities in Hollywood history. She’s a beloved original personality. “The View” prides itself on discussing most everything with candor. The show’s hot topics section always provides great banter. It appears, however, that if something is mentioned that threatens a corporate position, it must be clearly rectified. This is all complete speculation on my part, of course. No hard feelings, right my chilly Mickey Mouse?
