City Point Construction Continues in Downtown Brooklyn

As Brooklyn continues to attract tourist and gain new residents, another project has been put in action to bring Downtown Brooklyn up another level. While the plans were devised for this project, the designers kept in mind the location, the potential of the project and the needs of the location. Upon choosing the Fulton Street location designers and renowned architects Cook + Fox and Greenberg Farrow placed this project right in midst of Fulton Mall. With Fulton Mall being Brooklyn’s busiest shopping area, The City Point project will be a gold mine for Downtown Brooklyn.

The City Point project will offer retail and commercial space for “First Class” retailers which will ensure continual consumer attraction to Downtown Brooklyn. This project will also offer residential space which will consist of affordable housing and upscale housing so everybody will have a shot at getting in. The City Point project makes history as the first building to be built on Fulton Street in decades. This alone will bring people Downtown! Once the top notch retailers and businesses move in the people will come like never before. City Point will not only beautify Downtown, but it will also do wonders for the economy which is needed.

All of these details are great, but there is more great news! This is only the first phase of the City Point project! Plans are currently in motion to add other projects to this one and bring them together in one big building (see plans here). After this project is complete, we are sure to see a big change Downtown Brooklyn. We need more retail locations, commercial space and residential housing to bring in revenue. What better way to do it than to create jobs and give space for the work to be done?

Downtown Brooklyn remains an area bustling with consumer traffic, but when City Point comes to town Downtown will possibly be just as great as or greater than Lower- Midtown Manhattan! Some may think this is farfetched, but this project has a lot of potential. It will be one of the greatest projects to touch Fulton Street’s soil and residents are anticipating the creation of a better Downtown Brooklyn. Construction is set to be complete by spring 2012 which is only a few months away! Once phases one and two are complete watch out New York! Downtown Brooklyn just may become “The” shopping district of New York.
