Children are a gift and they all come with their own special gifts. Each child is unique and is uniquely gifted. Some children are born athletes, some are born dancers, some are innately musical, some are gifted intellectually and some are gifted with more than normal psychic skills.
There is a basic level of intuitive or psychic skill that all of us have. We rely on it to make judgments at first sight or decisions on the fly. These are more often right than wrong simply because they come from the subconscious mind. The sub conscious mind never really rests, it stays alert and ponders on the images, sounds, smells, tastes and sensations that are fed to us by the five senses every minute of every day. While the conscious mind learns to ignore all of these and focus on what it needs or learns discrimination, the subconscious mind just absorbs everything like a sponge. It is thins mind that comes to the forefront when you need to react instantaneously. And since it has all the information you fed it even if you did not do so consciously it has the right answers. This is the font of all the intuitive abilities people talk about. This is where the psychically gifted people get their abilities. The subconscious mind is so strong in them that they cannot yet exert the conscious mind over it.
Psychic skills are truly frightening to a child and to the people around him or her, especially the adults who have to nurture and raise that child to adulthood. Especially because these skills are so misunderstood there is a strong cultural resistance to the idea that children can have knowledge of such things. They assume rather that the child is telling tales or is a creative liar. He or she is punished for not being straight and narrow. The sad thing is the child has no control over these skills and cannot understand why he or she is being punished for seeing or telling things as they are, because they do see the things they talk about.
Psychic intuitives in the early stages need guidance in handling their talents, in strengthening their defenses and in dealing with people who will try to use them. They need to learn how to interpret what they see, how to understand their own limitations and to not interfere. When they see future events but can not convince others or influence the course of the future, they feel enormous grief and guilt and without learning about causality and freewill, they can internalize their pain and take it to the extent of self harm.
Psychic children are sensitive and yet powerful. They can inspire fear but are very often lonely and isolated.
