Carbonara’s Restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA

For more than 15 years, Carbonara’s, located on Mt. Lebanon Blvd., in Pittsburgh, PA is home to an amazing array of delicious and affordable Italian dining.

Tucked away in the corner of Mt. Lebanon Shoppes, surrounded by fast food choices, Carbonara’s is not the most welcoming sight from the outside. But when you enter the restaurant, it is an elegant yet casual environment of rich wood furniture and well dressed staff.

Due to the location, there is a small issue with parking, however that normally doesn’t stop many for flocking to Carbonara’s for their favorite food off of their extensive menu of soups, salads, pastas, veal, seafood, hoagies, hot sandwiches, pizzas, and calzones.

Two can dine easily for under $40, as this is not an inexpensive restaurant, but you get what you pay for. All menu items are served in hefty, fresh portions that leave you asking for a doggy bag!

I’ve had the pleasure of trying many of Carbonara’s entrée’s including the steak salad, chicken salad, white pizza, traditional pizza, and veal parmesan sandwich. My personal favorite is the steak salad. The steak salad is served as a large fresh garden salad topped with crispy steak fries, shredded cheese, and a medium cut of juicy steak with your choice of dressing and served with warm garlic bread for only $11.

If salad isn’t in your taste buds for a full meal, the veal dishes, especially the veal sandwich is perfect and extremely filling. The menu also includes hearty dishes such as chicken Marcela, fried shrimp, eggplant parmesan, lasagna, seafood casserole, and you can’t forget the filling and very large calzones. The Carbonara’s Collossal Calzone is packed full of meatballs, hot sausage, steak, pepperoni, capicolla ham, mushrooms, green peppers, onion sauce, ricotta and provolone cheeses for $16 and can feed up to 6 people.

Carbonara’s also has a fully stocked bar with domestic and imported bottled beers, liquor, and specialty wine at a reasonable price.

After a delicious meal, what better way to complete the Carbonara’s experience, than to have some dessert! Desserts are not listed on the menu, as they are fresh daily and you would need to ask your server. My personal favorite is their mouthwatering Tiramisu. Slightly higher priced than most places, yet Carbonara’s is the only restaurant I have run across that has a Tiramisu that seems to have that extra burst of espresso flavor.

I highly recommend dining at Carbonara’s the next time you’re in the South Hills area of Pittsburgh, PA. Your taste buds will thank you for it!
