Can This Really Be Happening to Us? Yes, it Can…Unfortunately

I have decided I should never travel because something always goes wrong when I travel. One trip is especially memorable. It’s been about 20 years now, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

I heard Michael Bolton was going to be in Pittsburgh and I immediately called my best friend from IL. We wanted to go, but convincing my mother worried me because I’m disabled and had never been anywhere alone. Luckily, I was able to convince her. My friend flew in; we rented a car, and were off!

After the 5 ½ hour drive, we couldn’t find the venue, so we called Ticketmaster only to find out that it was just outside Pittsburgh in Burgettstown! We found the place an hour before the show was to start with no time to look for a hotel. After the show, we saw someone who seriously looked like he escaped from a mental institution, and I screamed “Let’s get out of here NOW!” It took until 4:30 a.m. to find a hotel. They kindly extended check-out time and knocked $40 off the bill for us.

The next morning, we stopped at a store to buy a gift for someone. Upon pulling out of the parking space, we hit the car behind us, denting our bumper. Our grand finale to the trip was getting stuck on the Pittsburgh Loop for what seemed like forever. My friend is cranky, and all I can do is crack stupid jokes. Not a fun ride home.
