Adjusting Your Desktop Display Position

When using a multiple monitor set-up, adjusting the virtual position of your monitors will help fine-tune and calibrate your monitors to work together in a more precise way when transferring windows as it will allow for a more precise line-up.Right Click on your desktop Select ‘Screen Resolution’ A window will now open up displaying your monitors in a virtual scenario along with the settings you have chosen for each monitor If you wish to make adjustments to your monitors orientation, see my other tutorial, “Adjusting your Desktop Display Orientation”, if not then continue to the next step To help yourself visualize what needs to be adjusted, open up your internet browser, but do not maximize it to the entire screen. Instead, adjust it so it is displayed across both (or all) of your monitors You should notice that the window will not be matching up perfectly as it will be higher or lower compared to another monitor To adjust your monitors virtual position, revert back to the ‘Screen Resolution’ window Select the monitor you would like to adjust, and with the arrow keys, pan the virtual display in the direction it needs to go. If the window was too high on one monitor, try lowering that monitor’s position or raising the other monitor’s position Once you believe you have made the necessary adjustments, hit ‘Apply’ You should notice that the window is either more matched-up, or way out of place resulting on your adjustments Continue adjusting the position with a single key stroke of the arrow key to fine-tune your displays When you have made the necessary adjustments, click ‘OK’ and continue with your work
