A Winter Moon

A globe of stark, icy beauty hangs high
in the frosty night above the earth,
crystal clarity against a chilled lake sky
in eloquent elegance.

Brow thin, its silver simplicity
quietly woos, gently mesmerizes,
weaving lovers’ quilts of moonbeams,
casting a haunting mood that hypnotizes.

It dips, curtsies to a highway of stars
sprinkled across the heights like the shimmer
in childish eyes, awed by gifts of hearts,
pink – red valentines sprinkled with glitter.

A winter moon rides above the night snow.
I’m lulled and wooed by its luminous glow.
