5 Simple Thanksgiving Candle Arrangements

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on all the blessings of the year. When we share those special moments with friends and family, the warm glow of a candle can help shape the mood for the gathering. Making a special Thanksgiving candle arrangement doesn’t have to be hard or expensive. Use the colors and elements of the season to bring it all together. Here are 5 quick ideas that will warm your table for the holiday.

1 – Pillars on a Plate

Find that cake plate you’ve got tucked in the closet somewhere. It’s the perfect pedestal for an elevated Thanksgiving candle display. Set a large dinner plate on the cake pedestal, layer on colorful leaves and a sprinkling of acorns or small pine cones, then set three pillar candles in varying heights on the plates for a simple, yet elegant arrangement for your table.

2 – Pillars that Spell

Create a festive display on a long table with a simple candle arrangement that spells out “GIVING THANKS” or “THANKSGIVING.” Purchase 12 medium size pillar candles from the dollar store and wrap a band of dark autumn color paper around each pillar. The use clip art from the Internet, your printer and scissors to cut out the large letters you need in a lighter color. Glue them to your wrapped pillars and your candles are ready to set on the table. Break up long string of letters with a vase of hardy flowers in the middle and let the arrangement light up the room.

3 – Autumn Leaves on a Mason Jar

If you want a warm glow to set on a side table or entry stand, decoupage a Mason jar with colorful leaves and Mod Podge. Drop in a small tealight or votive and the candlelight will radiate through the glass and the leaves for cozy little light treatment.

4 – Tiny Pumpkins

Here’s a quick and easy way to show off all of those adorable tiny pumpkins you couldn’t resist from the grocery store. Set a tall drinking glass inside a tall, wide glass dessert bowl. Fill the channel created around the drinking glass with your tiny pumpkins. Then fill the drinking glass with water and a floating candle. You’ll get a burst of color with a flickering glow.

5 – A Stash of Acorns

Another easy arrangement is also budget-friendly when you gather the materials from your yard. Place a tall pillar candle in a tall glass vase. Then fill the empty space in the vase with little brown or green acorns about two-thirds the way up to the top of the pillar. It’s a simple and cozy decorative accent taken from right from nature.
