5 Cookbook Brands That Never Disappoint

I’ve purchased hundreds of cookbooks over the years, but there are some that I simply cannot pass up. These are the cookbooks published by some of the biggest names in cooking history – names that are common in most households and have been for decades. If you’re new to the cooking world, or just starting your cookbook collection, you should definitely consider these five cookbook brands that never disappoint.

Taste of Home

Taste of Home became a magazine in 1993 and the first cookbook was released in 2006. While this company hasn’t been around as long as the others, the company makes their cookbooks as easy to use as their magazine. Each cookbook offers a picture of each recipe along with detailed instructions. Taste of Home cookbook titles include such hits as Church Suppers, The Comfort Food Diet Cookbook and The Busy Family Cookbook.

Pillsbury

What family hasn’t used Pillsbury products at some point? The Pillsbury company started in 1869 as a flour company. The first Pillsbury cookbook was titled Pillsbury’s Vitos Recipe and Household Expense Book and was published around 1900. The company has since went on to publish over 100 cookbooks. Titles include Best of the Bake-Off Collection, Pillsbury Fast and Healthy Cookbook and Pillsbury Fast Slow Cooker Cookbook.

Betty Crocker

Who doesn’t love Betty Crocker? Okay, so she isn’t a real woman, but the company that came up with the idea has published some of the best cookbooks on the market. Betty Crocker began in 1921 as a signature used to make replies to customer questions sound more intimate. The first cookbook was released in 1950 and the company has went on to publish over a 100 more including 1500 Recipes for the Way You Cook Today, Betty Crocker’s Quick and Easy Cookbook and Betty Crocker Big Book of Cupcakes.

Better Homes and Gardens

Better Homes and Gardens has been loved by women for decades. The first magazine was published in 1924 and the first cookbook hit store shelves in 1930. The company has since went on to publish a variety of cookbooks including 365 30-Minute Meals, New Junior Cookbook and Anyone Can Cook.

Good Housekeeping

Last, but not least, where would women have been without Good Housekeeping? The magazine was first published in 1885 and the first cookbook was published in the early 1900s. The company has since went on to publish several updates editions of the original Good Housekeeping Cookbook along with a few other cookbooks based on certain types of cuisine.

I highly recommend purchasing any cookbooks you find from these brands. With many of these brands getting their start over 100 years ago, it’s plain to see that these companies know a thing or too about cooking.
