With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, many people have chocolates, flowers, and sexy underwear on their minds.
It’s all about the language of love, right?
Well, partially. According to a recent survey in Britain, nearly half of all women (43%) revealed that they save the sexy panties in their purses, to put on only if they think the date is going well.
Just like Bridget Jones, many of us enjoy the warm comforts of a pair of cotton briefs or bikini style cuts, but wearing them in front of a man for the first time can be embarrassingly cringe-worthy. So it seems like a reasonable alternative to carry a prettier pair in our purses, just in case.
The support offered by briefs, high leg panties, and shape-wear is something that nearly every woman can agree on as a good thing. But as the same survey suggested, nearly 60% of women would never admit to wearing those types of undergarments; not even to their long-term partners.
So it only makes sense to keep a sexier, albeit more uncomfortable pair, hidden away in a purse for special occasions and to keep Victoria’s secret a secret.
But don’t be alarmed ladies, the same survey stated that out of the men interviewed, 40% said that they wouldn’t blink an eye if their date or partner was wearing shape-wear or more supportive panties. The survey also revealed other surprises about the type of underwear we buy according to size. They discovered that slimmer, size 8’s prefer sensible cotton panties while women who wear size 16s prefer sexier, matching sets of lingerie.
Not surprisingly, these rules won’t necessarily be applied next Tuesday. More than half of British women planned on wearing special underwear for Valentines, and up to a third will invest in new underwear for the occasion.
For myself, I’m glad to see that women are open to embracing their inner feminine, sexy sides no matter what shape or size they are. I personally rock the cotton panties for everyday wear, though I’ve never thought of stuffing a pair of lacy, sexy panties into my purse. Perhaps it’s time to take heed from Bridget Jones and prepare myself for any and all possible date-night possibilities, but then again, I don’t think that little lacy thongs are uncomfortable, and so I wouldn’t mind wearing them through an entire date. And how embarrassing if you were pulling out your wallet or car keys and your fancy panties fell out?
