Does the press asking questions of Sarah Palin put the First Amendment in jeopardy?
Q: In an interview yesterday, Sarah Palin said of the media,”If they convince enough voters that that is negative campaigning, for me to call Barack Obama out on his associations, then I don’t know what the future of our country would be in terms of First Amendment rights and our ability to ask questions without fear of attacks by the mainstream media.”Does the mainstream media’s attack of Sarah Palin via asking questions about what she has said in public inhibit her First Amendment rights?http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2008/10/31/palin-media-criticism-of-my-criticism-first-amendment-violation/
A: The media asking Palin does not jeopardize the first amendment. But what do you expect. She thinks the VP “runs the senate”. She could not tell Katie Couric one Supreme Court case other than Roe v. Wade. She has a BS in Journalism. Now she’s going act like she knows something about the first amendment? The media has asked a lot of questions of Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, John McCain, Barack Obama, and Joe Biden over the years. She’s getting questions now because she’s only been on the national scene for a couple of months.Maybe the reason you don’t hear such ridiculous assertions from Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden is they all have law degrees. Barack Obama and Joe Biden were both professors of Constitutional Law for approx 12 years each. The main stream media asking Palin questions is exactly what they are supposed to do. That’s their job. Maybe if Palin paid more attention in her journalism classes she would know this.
