what sort of psychological ,physiological problems are faced by teen aged people?
Q:
A: There are probably many teens who would consider that they face no problems at all! They are at last entering a phase they have been preparing for all their lives so far – beautiful young practically adult bodies, a unique personality nearly ready to take its place in the society of adults, likes and dislikes becoming more clearly defined and in the case of the former able to be more fully gratified, an expanded capacity for pleasure, excitement, knowledge and understanding, a basic education about the world in general nearing completion, independence, a real life role. They have the wherewithal to flex their physiological and psychological muscles and an appetite to do just that, and it’s all gloriously just ahead! It’s wrong thinking to see the natural progress of our lives as a set of problems. At the same time, life is never easy. That is not a contradiction. Hard things are not necessarily evil. Indeed, the hard things can lift us up to get a better view, to fly higher. The physiological processes of adolescence are well known. They are all vulnerable to imperfections – growth and sexual maturation. The brain is very much involved in all of that, and also goes through a process of adolescent development of its own. Also vulnerable to imperfections – intellectual, anxieties, formation of social and personal and sexual relationships. The greatest resource teenagers have in this special time is people who love them. That gets them through, no matter what particular imperfections they face in themselves or issues they are challenged with. It might seem to teens sometimes that they are failing. But wait, the story is only just beginning…
Is stuttering a psychological problem or physiological?
Q: My cousin stutters more around certain people than others. Is stuttering a brain development disorder or does it deal more with the psyche?
A: It’s thought that genetics and neurophysiology contribute to stuttering.I had a severe speech impediment when I was younger and it got worst when I talked to people I wasn’t comfortable around. The same thing is probably happening to your cousin: his speech impediment gets worst when he’s nervous. This is a very normal response.Even now when I get nervous or feel really shy, my speech impediment comes back.
I have problems hearing. Physiological or psychological?
Q: I have trouble listening to people when there’s noise around, especially to female voices. The noise level can be low (as low as a fan operating) or as high as a crowd of children having lunch (i work at a school), and I still have trouble understanding what people are trying to say. I can hear the noise just fine but it’s like the noise takes over my hearing, making it hard to understand whatever anybody else is trying to say. I’m afraid to ask for them to repeat or to talk louder, i’m only 25 after all. However, I have very sensitive hearing and when all is quiet i can hear the slightest noise. I also have ADD, but it’s not really bad, but i have pondered about its possible implications in this problem. I won’t even consider hearing aids because that’d just amplify the background noises as well as the person talking to me, not making anything better at all.So, which is it, the ADD or a hearing defficiency? Any ideas on how to help it? Thanks!
A: Sounds like a hearing problem and they do make specific hearing aids that block out the back ground noise. you should check it out before it gets worse.
