Is it healthy to make your appereance a self-esteem booster?
Q: Is this healthy? Like I know of many studies that say that kids feel and behave so much better during picture day and stuff. So is this healthy? to make looks part of your self-steem build up?if it is, what about people who live in countries where they don’t have money to buy nice clothes or even care about looks since they have other problems, like starvation and stuff?what do you think? thanks!
A: Sure, it’s healthy. I would say anything is if it boosts your self esteem. Anything that helps you love and accept yourself for who you are can boost your confidence and make you believe a little more. Just do not only rely on your appearence to make you well rounded with high self esteem. Looks fade over time, but personality will always be there. However, if your appearence is alright now, it can help you feel better about yourself on the inside. :)Best wishes.
What are some good self-esteem boosters?
Q: I decided to volunteer at a summer school for the same school that I was student-teaching at during the school year. I’ve only been volunteering at this summer school for a week, but one thing is obvious- these children basically think that they aren’t intellegent. I know that’s not true. Most of them have a really low self-esteem, too. I just wanted some ideas or tips on how to boost child self esteem. These kids are 12-14 years old, approximately. Do you have any quick games or activities I can fit in? Anything to help these kids think better of themselves and to gain confidence. Thank you so much- I really hope that this will help!
A: We did an exercise once when I was about that age. Everyone got their own balloon and a marker, wrote their name on it and passed it around. Everyone had to write something nice, or something they liked about that person on the balloon, and it could be anonymous. When we were done, everyone read all the nice things about themselves out loud. It was surprising to find that there is something about someone that appeals to someone else.
