A: No; I’d say it’s situational. In some cases, altruism is the stronger behaviour; in others, selfishness. Technically they can both be hardwired to different degrees. For example, someone can risk their life to save a child from drowning in a river, but it doesn’t mean they’d give away their last food to a starving family if their OWN family was starving.
