Inderal for acute anxiety symptoms?
Q: I have been on benzos (ativan and klonopin before that) for acute anxiety disorder, and though I have figured out how to stop the mental panic, I am still getting physical symptoms (chest pain, “butterflies” ) and I am in summer grad school, so I usually do not have time for the fogginess of benzos.I have avoided taking this due to the necessity to study, but today has been almost an entire “out of body experience”. I feel disconnected and well, weird. I have checked my BP all day, and it is in the 130/80 range (it is usually in the 115/70 range). Is this what is causing my feelings?I have known people with BPs in the 200s, and they don’t feel this way. Is it the change from normal? What is going on?!?Has this proven to be an effective means to address acute anxiety?
A: Inderal is a Beta blocker that may halt the symptoms that accompany anxiety or panic attacks but they do not prevent the panic itself. You should inform your Dr. if you feel “butterflies” in the stomach for more than 1 week of taking this drug.Your BP reading of 130/80 is still in the normal range. Chest pain though, is not normal when taking Inderal. Unless you’re asthmatic, which you should have told your dr because beta blockers are contraindicated in asthamatics.

how do you live in a noisy area if you have acute anxiety , PTSD & agoraphobia?
Q: especially if your not in the position to move right now and when you have severe agoraphobia , and severe anxiety and bad ptsd symptoms ?what are the tips ? how can you endure it and tolerate people you dont wanna live around ?firstly , i have deep psychological issues and mental health problems im struggling and trying to battle just to get the right help and care for, which the mental services have failed me with so far.i have BPD, borderline – which is a hard severe illness ,- PTSD and OCD undiagnosed – that i need to be diagnosed and need the right treatment for.i have acute anxiety, palpitations attacks, obsessive racing thoughts , which i cant control , bad agoraphobia.i know im not the only one who gets failed by the mental health professions.im now 31 , live on disability in a one bedroom apartment and own ‘ few ‘ material possessions , except an old custom made computer , a small tv , a playstation 2, a few games , a few books, few dvds , and thats it.i get obsessive about material possessions, the few that i have, especially worry – what if they get damaged , and that ‘ what if i lose what few things i own ? ‘illness aside , im a very introverted , private person , ive struggled with rage for years , stemming from abuse throughout life…….i like to mind my own affairs where i live……dont like noise…..drama….loud people……loud music….hysteria……hype….sensation… very against all that.i dont live in a rough area by any means but the area i live in, which is small…..with small apartment complexes, can get ” noisy ” …” rowdy ”ie – young people driving fast cars away from there homes, blasting loud hip hop music on sunny days………..shouting sometimes from ” alpha male types ” across the street at each other…… the boom boom of car stereos……loud shouting and hysterics from neighbours etc.its not ” all the time ” or extremely excessive , but i still passionatly hate and dislike it………begrudge their presence and their noise….resent them and their noise……find it intrusive into my apartment.i cant just afford to leave here ‘ right now ‘ – because i live on disability, have no savings or money….have no history of work or qualifications and are starting from scratch in life at 31 because of my harsh life so far……………it will take time to move completley away and build the life i want.so meanwhile, how can i deal with living around a sometimes, very noisy area ? – male shouting….fast cars….noisy bassy car stereos ?im quiet, keep myself to myself…..im a quiet respectful neighbour……trying to deal with my hard life adversities, so how can i handle it ?i really hate and resent living around them. even though they dont directly bother or harass me.thanksmy dream is, to live in a far away quiet sea coastal village, but with my circumstances, thats light years away and a very hard dream to accomplish..
