A: You have to remember that everyone only really cares about themselves and how they will look up there, just like how you think. So noone will really have the time to judge you, because everyone feels like that weather they show it or not. If you ever mess up, don’t worry, most likely you will remember the situation, but not them. Good luck. 🙂
How do i stop myself from being VERY nervous from public speaking?
Q: when theres a presentation going o nin class and its my turn, i start freaking out, my heart starts to beat really fast like its going to pop out ir something, and breath really fast like i just came back from running…is there ANY WAY i can get over this fear?
A: I got over my fear by continuously throwing myself into situations where I needed to public speak. It gives you enough expirience in the situation that in the end it becomes less nerve racking then it used to be. Just keep in mind that theres nothing scary about it, everyone wants you to do well so there is no reason why you should be scared.
How can I gain confidence, and stop being shaky and nervous whilst doing presentations and talking to people?
Q: Please help. I have low self-esteem and I don’t know how to improve it. I dress decently but have no confidence in my physical appearance and feel so plain in comparison to all of the beautiful people out there. Which sounds kinda pathetic, I know. But this isn’t the main problem. I have a great deal of trouble talking to people, especially in groups of 3 or more. My heart starts pounding before I’m about to say something. Then I decide not to say anything at all. This I know is the fight/flight reaction, but how can I tackle feeling this way mentally and physically? I’ve got two presentations to do in school tomorrow. I’m nervous about it already! Whenever I do presentations I stutter and my hands start shaking, which is really embarassing. I’m also not feeling very happy at the moment ‘cos I’ve been so lonely and depressed. What can I do?Any advice you could give me would be most appreciated. Any self-help books on confidence/shyness that you would recommend would also be great =] Thankyou!
A: When you do school presentations, your obligation is merely to convey the message to your teacher and classmates. Not perform a dance or embarass yourself – simply do what you have to do in a calm manner. Do not get yourself all worked up over it – your mind is your worst critic and creates a whole round of irrational and negative possibilities. Whether they seem like it or not, the rest of your class is just as nervous before their presentation. When you get up there, all they’re thinking about is themself and how they’re going to do – nobody is judging you. Walk up there confident, and as if you are on top of the world, superior to all else. If you act confident, you will FEEL confident. You have potential in you and if the teacher didn’t think you can handle it, she wouldn’t have assigned it. Try practicing for the presentation, and do not worry yourself. Also, try not to care so much about the outcome. You are pressuring yourself with too much unnecessary care – let whatever happen happen and be proud of yourself in the end. Do not think about the past or your other presentations. There were reasons for your nervousness then, and it may not have been your fault. This is a fresh start and new opportunity to succeed. Embrace it and disregard all that has happened before. Best of luck.
