How to get rid of bad habit when horseback riding a coarse of jumps?
Q: I have a bad habit of leaning forward and not realizing it when jumping a coarse. It does not happen on every horse when I don’t feel completely secure I tend to lean forward. It will occasionally happen also when I am doing the extended canter on the flat. Can anyone give me some tips?btw this is not Rachel it is her daughter
A: Pretty much everyone has this problem from time to time. When we get unsure, our bodies default to the fetal position and we rock forward. Since you know you do it, you just have to pay better attention to your position. You can tell yourself ‘sit up sit up’ before a jump. Riding with an instructor will also help.
How do you get rid of a bad habit? -curses-?
Q: I have a very bad habit of cursing. It’s like that every single sentence on the tip of my tounge contains at least a single ‘fcuk’ or much ‘sh*t’. ‘Holy shit’ is my regular phrase. My friends really hate this habit of mine and this is getting really inconvenient for me. Although, I did not find anything so BAD about it. I mean, it’s not meant to hurt anyone and nobody’s feeling is hurt by my words, so why bother? Still, since I live in a very well-behaved and moralistic society, they want me to get rid of this ‘bad’ habit.First, what should I do and how to do it?Thanks, people
A: Here are a couple of suggestions:To get yourself catching yourself … make yourself put 50 cents in a jar for a charity every time you curse. This will help make you more aware of doing it. (And follow through .. give the “donations” to a charity when you have conquered the habit). Then, everytime you catch yourself, before you curse, stop, and rephrase what you are going to say … don’t just substitute another word for the curse word, its essentially not changing the habit if you do it that way.If you dont catch yourself and you curse, apologize to who you are talking to (this helps burn it in to your own consciousness), then rephrase what you were saying.Good for you!! Good luck!
How can I rid this bad habit?
Q: I have this really bad habit of hunching over all the time, when i’m standing, when i’m sitting. Now, I think I have a nice body, but the hunch is so bad that I feel that it takes away from my posture. Any ideas on how to stop hunching. I don’t have a back problem or anything.
A: constantly be aware of it and check yourself. it will eventually become habit. you can tie a string around your finger, it really helps. everytime you see the string you are reminded to straighten up. a corset might be an even better and more noticeable reminder, it would kinda force you upright.
