Wayne Chambers Attends AFCA 2012 Coaches Convention

San Antonio, TX- As the sport of college football refuels for next fall, there still exists a subculture of coaching professionals, subsequently these guys are determined to make the most of their off season. The American Football Coaches Association is an organized resource center, created for football coaches who wish to substantiate their careers relative to the industry and its evolution. Each year AFCA hosts a coaches convention where football programmers come from around the country to network and collaborate coaching strategies. This four day retreat of sorts, includes an array of activities; keynote speaker’s,luncheon’s, chalk talk, X’s and O’s and all.

As often as coaching positions are filled, they are released. Football professionals take advantage of the convention to reconnect with their former colleagues, some in hopes of landing a new gig. Wayne Chambers, an assistant coach for Missouri State University, attended the convention this week and spoke on his time in San Antonio. He ran into Indiana’s head coach, Kevin Wilson, and was inspired by a speech led by new Texas A&M head coach, Kevin Sumlin.

“I’ve been going for a few years, and its always a great experience, I caught up with old colleagues and fellow coaches I hadn’t seen in a while.” -Wayne Chambers

Coach Chambers talks about how the convention was seasoned with vendors, demonstration tables and some in the midst of on site interviews. Although this conference is saturated with over achievers, you can rest assured that when life long ” professional jocks” get together, there you will also find some rich, robust “man-fun.” If you look hard enough, you might run into a group of tailgating guys and possibly get invited to an exclusive watch party.

Chambers couldn’t stay long. It’s recruiting season and amongst other things, hand picking talent for the MoState 2012 roster is the most important part of his weekly work flow. Currently, you can find Wayne around the metropolitan of Kansas City, scouting the area’s most talented and dedicated student athletes.

“Humility is on the path to success.” One of the most enlightening things I heard at the convention. #Truth– Wayne Chambers via Twitter
