Upcoming Horror Movies 2012

A new year is rolling in and that means new movies will be coming to theaters. I have always been an avid horror movie fan and I’m always looking for the next good horror film to hit theaters. Lately, the films have been disappointing but it looks like that could change in 2012.

The Devil Inside

This movie looks like it could give anybody nightmares for weeks. I was actually a bit hesitant on whether or not I wanted to see this one because, from the previews, it looks like it will be incredibly graphic. The makers of paranormal activity created this film which makes me only want to see it even more. The plot is surrounded around a woman who becomes possessed and of course it looks like there will be plenty of jaw dropping scenes. This is a must see for horror film lovers. It comes to theaters on January 6th and though a rating has not been declared, I’m assuming that it will be R.

Underworld: Awakening

Though I wouldn’t normally categorize this as a ‘horror film’, I have always love the underworld movies. This film will be another installment that adds on to the epic war between the lycans and the vampires. It will air in 3D, which I’m certain will only make it that much more entertaining. As always, Kate Beckinsale is back as our favorite death dealer. I’m curious to see where they went with this film and I am very much anticipating going to see it in theaters. A rating for this film has not been released but it will hit theaters on January 20th.

The Woman in Black

Daniel Ratcliff, who everybody knows as harry potter, stars in this film that is about a young lawyer who must travel to an old town to sort through papers belonging to one of his clients. The previews for this film make it look very well put together and unlike most horror movies these days, it actually looks like it will have a rich plot. When he first sees the woman in black, he begins asking questions around town and comes up empty handed. He must discover the nature and the identity of this woman in black. This film comes to theaters February 12th and is rated PG-13.

The Raven

This film is probably going to more along the lines of a ‘thriller’ rather than a horror film but since it is based on ‘the raven’ by one of my all time favorite writers, Edgar Allen Poe, I had to add this one to the list. John Cusack joins forces with another detective t o help hunt down a serial killer who is using the literary works of Edgar Allen Poe as the basis for his murders. This appears to be one of those rare movies that will keep you on the edge of your seat. It comes to theaters on March 9th and is not yet rated.

Silent House

This one is just your everyday horror flick. It’s about a young girl staying in her parent’s lake house when things take a turn for the worst, in the most bloody of ways. I wasn’t able to find a lot of information about this film except for the general plot line but it does seem to be a movie that horror flick lovers will relish. It’s not yet rated but it comes to theaters on March 9th.

House at the end of the Street

This one will be another typical horror flick from the looks of it. The plot is centered on a teenage girl who moves to another town with her mother where she discovers she is living down the street from a house where a brutal murder took place. She then befriends the only surviving child of the man who committed the murders which will add to the plot line. This film is rated PG-13 and comes to theaters on April 20th.

There you have it; all the horror films that are coming to theaters in the new year.
