Times Change

How different things are today from years past. Once, families cared for each other. Children respected the elderly and never lost patience with them, no matter what they did or said.

Some came from the old world and barely spoke English. No one laughed or made fun of them but taught them how to use correct words.

How different things are today from years past. The elderly always had a home with one of their children, even those who were married and had children of their own. They were given their own room and were cared for; comforted and loved no matter what they said. Today, many are sent to a Nursing Home to live out their life.

How different things are today from years past. Ellis Island opened their doors to those who spoke all languages: some rich and those poor. Many came into this country with only the clothes on their back- but they felt loved. Family stayed with family – there was never even a doubt. The young cared for the elderly and shared whatever or how little they had.

Then, and now – Where has the time gone. We are all made of skin and bones. We all hurt when we fall. We bleed when our skin has been cut and we cry when we are sad. We all want, but some want more and work to get it.

Times Change!
