Three Inexpensive and Simple Ways to Clean an IPod Touch 4th Generation Screen

If you own an iPod Touch 4th generation then you know how easily the screen can become dirty with debris and fingerprints. I recently purchased an iPod Touch 4th generation and was amazed at just how fast the screen can become dirty with fingerprint smudges and dusty from just being in my possession. After a lot of trial and error I have found three ways to clean the screen of the iPod Touch 4th generation to get rid of the fingerprints and debris easily. Here are three of the best inexpensive ways you can clean your iPod Touch 4th generation screen, based on my own personal experience.

1. The best way to clean your iPod Touch 4th generation screen is with a microfiber cloth and you can get a six pack of them for about $10 in any retail or computer store. Microfiber cloths are handy for a lot of electronics and are an easier way to clean dust and fingerprints off of screens without messing up the LCD display. The best part about the microfiber cloths is that you can just take a cloth and put it in your purse or car so that it is with you whenever you need to clean your iPod Touch 4th generation screen. All you have to do is gently rub the microfiber cloth across the LCD screen and use minimal pressure going in a circular motion from the top of the screen toward the bottom. You can hold your iPod Touch 4th generation up to the light so you can see if you missed a spot and then just gently swipe the cloth around the areas with the fingerprints until you do not see anymore. I bought a six pack of microfiber cloths through Amazon and have used them on everything from laptop screens to LCD television screens to the iPod Touch 4th generation and have been amazed at how well it removes fingerprints and dust. I also like it because I can use the cloths as much as I want without worrying about messing up the pixels in the display.

2. If you are concerned about the microfiber cloth getting the oil, dust or fingerprints off completely you can also buy special products made for electronics like laptops and the iPod Touch 4th generation. These special cleaning solutions are made specifically for products with LCD or LED screens so that the chemicals will not damage the pixels and it will keep your electronics looking good as new. These types of products typically come with a small microfiber cloth or another similar cleaning cloth because using paper towels or rags can damage the screen on your iPod Touch 4th generation. These special cleaning solutions are typically found at your local retail store or electronics store and will cost you about $10 for an 8 ounce bottle, so it is still reasonable in price if you rather go this route. I have used a small sample bottle in the past that my father gave me to try out and it worked great but I get the same results with just using a microfiber cloth, so you might just have to try it and see if it is a product worth investing in long term for your needs.

3. You can also clean your iPod Touch 4th generation screen with water, but you have to use distilled water instead of generic tap water. Tap water contains a lot of minerals and harsh chemicals that can leave your screen worse than it was before and can ruin the pixels in the display. Never use bottled water or tap water to clean your screen because it will just result in dots and left behind residue and will not get your screen clean even if you use just a little. You can purchase distilled water at your local grocery store for about $2 for a gallon and that will last you a very long time. When you clean your iPod Touch 4th generation screen with the distilled water you do not want to use very much at all, just like a pea sized amount on a microfiber cloth or similar cloth. You always want to make sure you turn off your device before you begin the cleaning process with any chemicals including water because the water can damage the device if it goes inside. You also want to make sure that you place a small amount of the distilled water on the cloth itself and not directly onto your iPod Touch 4th generation screen because this can also ruin the device or cause it to become damaged, so just dab some on a cloth and then clean the screen lightly.

If you are not sure about using products, chemicals or water on your iPod Touch 4th generation screen then just be like me and stick with the microfiber cloths only, the way I see it is I rather be safe than sorry. These are three of the more simple and inexpensive ways you can clean your iPod Touch 4th generation screen and they will ensure your screen is free of dirt and debris as well as fingerprints.
