I searched each Christmas for the peace,
They said that could be found.
I searched in all the Christmas glitter.
I searched snow on the ground.
I turned off all the lights at night
And left ones lit on the Christmas tree.
I’d search through branches and gaze at ornaments
For the peace they said could be.
In all the gifts I would give out
Wrapped in pretty paper and shiny bows.
There was no peace…
Where could it be?
Only heaven knows.
And then one night as I sat in the dark
Gazing at the sparkling tree.
I found the place I hadn’t looked.
The peace was within me!
I found the love that God had given
By giving us his son.
The pure and everlasting love,
It is the only one.
There is no peace in shiny bows
Or glitter on a tree.
The only peace that I have found
Is the Peace that God gave me!
