School Reminder Bracelet

When it’s time for school there is a lot you have to do. Then, school starts and you get even busier – and you’re not even the one going to school! If you’re the parent of a school child you’ll often find that you have more to do than the child, like helping with homework, preparing lunches, going to PTA meetings and keeping school clothes laundered. Still, you’re a hands-on parent who will help the child in any way possible. Like, if your child has trouble remembering assignments and dates you can help with that. All you have to do is a quick and easy craft and your child will suddenly remember all the required assignments and more. Make a reminder bracelet and you’ll make things easier on yourself and your child.

You know the old suggestion of tying a string around your finger to remember something? The reason that it actually works is because the string bugs you all day long so you’re constantly reminded of what you have to do. The same thing goes for the reminder bracelet. It’s a really easy thing to make and will be a constant reminder for your child to keep up with an assignment, appointment or date.

Purchase adhesive-backed paper to make the bracelet. You’ll find the paper online or in craft stores. Available in many colors and styles the paper is decorative on the front and sticky on the back. Cut one piece of the paper to be 10″ long and an inch wide.

At an office supply store you’ll find white paper labels which are also adhesive. The peel-n-stick labels can be written on with marker or pen. Choose a long, slender label which is a little smaller in width and a few inches smaller in length. Peel and stick the label onto the paper bracelet.

Turn the bracelet over and score one end of the adhesive backing. Use a craft knife to make a vertical line, an inch long, across the bracelet. The score line should be about an inch from the very end of the bracelet.

Write an assignment, date, spelling words, or other reminder on the white paper label of the bracelet. When the child is ready to wear it simply pull the adhesive backing off, from the score line, to the end. Wrap the bracelet around the wrist and stick this end to the other end of the bracelet.

School kids aren’t the only ones who can benefit from the reminder bracelet. Adults, too, can wear the bracelet one day when they need to remember an appointment or other date. They’re easy to make and really helpful.
