It’s significant for kids to know safety tips especially in certain situations where they need it the most.

It is important that children, like you, knows what to do in emergency or dangerous situations. This will help you to protect your self, your family and your loved ones. Children are not as cautious as an adult that is why you need to listen always to your parents and teachers. You need to be constantly reminded of how to stay safe all the time. Here are some of the important safety tips you need to remember wherever you go.

When you are at home, answering the front door is very important. When someone knocks on the door, even when your parents are around, you should inform your parents first before opening it. When you are alone, you should never answer the door unless you recognize that it is your parents that are knocking.

When answering the phone, you should never inform the caller that you are alone. Just tell the caller that your parents are not available to talk at the moment and just take whatever message they want to relay. Never give out personal information no matter who is calling. Always inform your parents whoever called that day so they can confirm if they know the caller or not.

Never play in the kitchen when you are at home. Hot cooking utensils and the oven can give you a burn when you touch them. Never play with knives and sharp utensils inside the house for these can give you serious cuts or injuries. These safety tips will help your parents have a peace of mind even though they are not beside you.

You should learn how to dial 911. When an emergency or dangerous situation arises, you should call 911. You should be able to answer what the operator would ask like: what, where, why, when, and how. You can have a pretend play with your parents so you will be more comfortable with the procedure.

In case you get lost, you can either dial 911 or you can seek other means of getting safe help. Make sure that wherever you go, you have money in your pocket so you can make a phone call whenever you get lost. If you were separated from your parents in the mall or store, you can go to the information or help desk or approach the security guard so they can help finding you again. Always memorize your full name, address and telephone number.

You should be careful when encountering strangers. Never give important personal information to strangers or receive anything from them. You could only ask help from strangers if you are lost, you are in trouble or you are getting away from someone who is hurting you. Be careful with strangers because they look like anyone else and you cannot predict what harm or danger they can give you.

These safety tips does not give you fear but these will give you a broader knowledge on how children, like you, can be safe all the time.
