Review: Snapps Snack Bites Loaded Potato Sticks

A couple days ago, my wife had to run to Wal-mart for a few things, including something for dinner. While she was there, she ended up walking into their freezer section and saw something a bit different; Loaded Potato Sticks from the Snapps Snack Bites brand. Even though they didn’t look like something that would be enough for dinner, she thought they would make a good movie-night snack so she picked up a couple boxes.

I have had other products from this brand before and, when I saw these, I was interested in trying them; mostly because I have had good past experiences with this brand. And, for the most part, this particular product did not disappoint.

My wife and I finally got around to trying these last night (when we were watching the movie Drag Me to Hell) and, as far as convenience goes, I had no complaints. I just popped them in my toaster oven for about 12 minutes and they were done (right about the same time my wife was done mixing herself a drink).

Because these were really cheap (about a dollar per box), I was a little concerned about both quantity and quality. However, neither of these turned out to be a problem. When it came to quantity, there were plenty (8) inside the box for the two of us to split. We didn’t even need to make the second box because, even though these seem to be a bit small in size, they are actually pretty filling. I barely made it through my four.

When it came to taste, these did exceed my expectations by quite a bit. They could have used a little more “loading” (you can never have too much bacon or cheese when it comes to a snack like this). But, they did have quite a bit of flavor to them and, unlike some other potato snacks we’ve had in the past, they weren’t overly salty. They got by with just the potato taste.

Overall, I have to say we are very happy with this purchase. My wife didn’t have to spend a fortune and we found a pretty nice snack that isn’t too hard to make. And, the best part is we still have another box of them in our freezer.

If you are looking for something different for a movie-night snack, I recommend looking for these the next time you are at the store.
