Doing my grocery shopping when I am hungry is something I rarely do, but the last time I purchased groceries that was exactly what happened. When I am hungry everything looks good and appetizing, and I generally spend more and come home with more junk food than I need.
I recently bought a box of Fred Meyer Chewy Sweet & Salty Pretzel Bars, mainly because they were on sale for only $2.45, and I love the Nature Valley brand Sweet & Salty Peanut Bars. These looked similar, and they sounded great, so I figured I’d give them a try. Boy am I glad I did, these snack bars are amazing!
Fred Meyer Chewy Sweet & Salty Pretzel Bars come in a 7.4 ounce box, which contains six individually wrapped bars. The box reads “New! Try it, you’ll love it!”. The front of the package also states that the Fred Meyer Chewy Sweet & Salty Pretzel Bars contain no high fructose corn syrup, an ingredient that has come under fire in recent months.
These are described as a chewy bar made with a mixture of pretzels, cookie pieces and cereal with a white chocolate flavored coating. The Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Peanut Bars are coated with a peanut butter coating, and I like white chocolate, so this sounded delicious.
I just ate my first Fred Meyer Chewy Sweet & Salty Pretzel Bar and I am pleased to report I will be buying these again. I enjoyed this treat between breakfast and lunch and it helped tide me over until dinner time. I found it very satisfying, both for the crunch factor as well as the mingling of the sweet and salty flavors. I personally found the white chocolate flavor to be quite dominant, but it blended perfectly with the other flavors.
One bar contains 160 calories and 4.5 grams of fat. It has 2.5 grams of saturated fat but no trans fats. There are zero milligrams of cholesterol, 135 milligrams of sodium, 65 milligrams of potassium, 26 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of dietary fiber, 11 grams of sugars and 2 grams of protein.
Fred Meyer Chewy Sweet & Salty Pretzel Bars taste as good as a candy bar, and they are more filling and more nutritious than the candy I like. Not only do these snack bars taste delicious, but the crunch and sweet & salty flavor really took care of my sweet tooth as well. I will definitely be purchasing these again.
