Pleasantly Suprised Then Hit in the Face

The Twin Falls County fair had a concert on 9/4/11. The concert was originally supposed to be Joe Nichols with special guest The Band Perry. Well that’s not who it was. About a month before the concert something happened, who knows what and the venue changed to The Band Perry with special guest Joey and Rory. I was even more ecstatic when I found this out. I had heard of Joey and Rory when the radio played their Cheater Cheater song.

Joey and Rory started out the concert with hilarious commentary and interaction with the entire crowd. They were so funny everyone was laughing. They asked the crowd questions and told us jokes. Their music was great and they have a terrific onstage and live performance. I would go to any of Joey and Rory’s concerts again.

The Band Perry was not as good as you would have expected. They totally hands down got showed up by their cover band. The Band Perry was a little on the pathetic side. They were announced about 4 times before they ever got on stage. I mean really they took so long to get on stage that the DJ’s from KAT country had to come out and throw Frisbees for free t-shirts to keep people from getting angry. They took so long to get on stage that any time someone walked across the stage people in the crowd were like “Hey did you see that! They’re coming on stage! Look it’s The Band Perry!” only to find out that it was a stage crew member moving equipment. They weren’t interactive with the crowd. The only one that even talked to the crowd and had any energy was Kimberly. In my opinion and the lack of enthusiasm from the crowd she didn’t help much at all. It was like as soon as The Band Perry actually started singing everyone in the crowd fell into a trance of “if I have to stay I will”.

It was pathetic to say the least. Yes the music was fine, it sounded good, but there was really no performance. It felt like they didn’t even want to be there, and if people in the crowd feel that, then why did we pay good money to see them? I couldn’t hold out for the end of the concert. I decided to take a walk around the fair before the booths closed. It’s not like I couldn’t hear the music, they had little speakers in all the buildings and throughout the fair grounds. To tell the truth I liked listening to The Band Perry while walking around sooooo much more than having to sit there and watch while Kimberly jumped up and down, kicked her legs, and sang. Everyone else in The Band Perry just stood there playing their instruments. I think that Joey and Rory should have been the leading band not The Band Perry.
