Photography Reveals Eureka Springs, Arkansas Spirit

The story I am about to tell may seem unbelievable, but it is true.

It was an autumn weekend and my husband and I decided to spend the weekend in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. We drove up the winding street to the very top of the quaint little town and checked in at the Crescent Hotel. That weekend we enjoyed fine food, and admired our view from our balcony room. It became late in the night so we headed up to the bar located on the top level of the hotel. We drank cocktails and ate appetizers while enjoying the acoustic guitar entertainer. All night I had heard from others in the hotel that the place was haunted. I was not a believer. I thought it was silly. As the night continued, I decided to see for myself what all the silliness was about. I had my camera with me and my husband and I decided to walk the halls of the hotel in search of “ghosts”. I was taking my camera and just shooting aimlessly at nothing in particular. I would take pictures of the halls, the walls, the bar where we were and even outside off the balcony into the black sky. I thought it was fun and silly at the same time.

The next night, when we returned home, I decided to download my pictures off of the camera. My husband had already retired for the evening and was in bed. One by one the pictures appeared before me. Pictures of the lobby, the restaurant, the guitar singer at the lounge all appeared. I was thinking to myself how much fun we had and what a great album this was going to make to remember the visit.

All of a sudden a picture revealed itself on my computer screen. It was hard to make out where I had taken it. I suddenly remembered that this was taken in the hallway by the lounge. I had just stuck out my camera around the corner and taken it. It was of the hallway. It was a picture of the end hall mirror. But instead of it showing a reflection of me in a Hawaiian flowered t-shirt the picture showed something else. Someone was in the photo that was not me. It looked like a lady adorned in a white dress and at her feet stood a small white fluffy animal. She was in the picture.

I was so perplexed on how this could have happened. Was it a hoax? I even went back to the hotel a few months later and looked behind the mirror for evidence of foul play. I took pictures of it again and only got a picture of me taken a picture reflecting back at me. View the picture to the right of this article to form your own opinion.

The Crescent Hotel patrons have seen its share of ghosts. But I had never seen any, and for me to get it on camera, well, just jolted me from being a non-believer into a full fledge ghost fan. If you want to engage in a spiritual element for fun at a great vacation site, I suggest you stay at the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs. It was an experience I will never forget.
