Pharmacy Technician Jobs in New York Are Emerging

Turn-A-Tech Inc, a Florida based organization, announces the launch of their pharmacy technician online training program in New York this Fall. This affordable and comprehensive twelve week program comes to New York at the most opportune time as a grim job market requires more trained individuals. “The timing is perfect”, says Sandy Reese-Rigg RN,RPh, as she makes special mention of anticipated changes in the current New York State regulations.

A few states such as Florida now acknowledge pharmacy technicians as professionals. The New York Board of Pharmacy plans to enter an official ruling to implement mandatory academic requirements for individuals wanting to become pharmacy technicians. When this law is passed, this will simply mean that New York will also consider and recognize the pharmacy technician career as a profession and will issue a license to eligible candidates.

Other states that have implemented similar laws and have issued rulings that enables candidates who have passed a national certification exam to be ‘grandfathered-in’, and hence, exempt from a lengthy course curriculum as long as two years. In anticipation of this ruling and of the grandfather period that will follow, Turn-A-Tech offers this program to New York at this crucial time. “We helped many people become Pharmacy Technicians in Florida, and now they boast a License issued by the Florida Board of Pharmacy” says Sandy. “How else could someone become a professional in 12 weeks?” asks Susan Chin-Jackson RPh. “It’s a no brain-er”, responded Sandy.

As pharmacy owners, the founders of Turn-A-Tech feel obligated to help candidates who want to become Rx techs and to offer an affordable alternative to the otherwise inflated tuition that some vocational schools now charge. They are pleased to offer a comprehensive online program with professional mentorship at a mere cost of $649 compared to $13,000 that some schools currently charge. This 12 week mentor-ship program is for novice candidates trying to enter the profession. The other course is an independent self paced preparation course for $149 for experienced pharmacy techs preparing to take either the ExCPT or PTCB certification exam.

After the New York Board of Pharmacy changes the academic requirements for pharmacy technicians, candidates will have to enroll in lengthy and expensive programs. There are a few economical courses being offered now. Turn-A-Tech’s online 12 week program with mentor-ship is only $649 and meets all the requirements to prepare candidates to pass the ExCPT & PTCB exams
