Patchwork Quilt Bedroom Walls

If you love a country-charm look for your home you likely own at least one patchwork quilt. How could you resist? The assorted shapes, the various colors, all put together in a patchwork arrangement – it’s beautiful. You can give a similar look to a wall in a bedroom, behind the bed or elsewhere, and you’ll absolutely love it. Whether you have a patchwork quilt on the bed, or you don’t, the unusual wall quilt will fit right in with the look of the country charm-bedroom.

Design the wall like you would a quilt. It can be helpful to use grid paper where one inch equals one foot. Decide what shapes you’ll use, where you’ll put them on the wall, and other specifics. The easiest design is one that combines various sizes of squares and rectangles. Either one, though, can be cut in half, and exchanged with a half from a different piece. The half can be a square shape, a rectangular shape, or, if you cut on the diagonal, can be a triangular shape.

The type of material you use on the wall can vary. Scrapbook paper allows you to easily create a theme but you could also use gift wrap, cloth, printer paper (printed or not), wallpaper, or another type. The most important thing is to make clean, straight cuts, to get the best look for the patchwork wall. You’ll achieve a real patchwork look if you cut the pieces from many different colors and prints of paper or cloth, and if you cut the quilt blocks to be various sizes and lengths.

Use double-sided tape or white glue to attach the quilt blocks to the wall. Or, if you’re using fabric, starch will even work. Dip the fabric in the starch, then stick a quilt block to the wall, and smooth out the wrinkles. Any time you want, pull the cloth off of the wall, launder it, and put it back up. Tape lines can help you position the papers or quilt blocks exactly as they need be.

The patchwork wall is very unusual and is the hit of the bedroom. Who can resist that country-charm look of the different colors, prints, and shapes? If you want, finish it off by gluing ribbons around the blocks, or by attaching pieces of yarn, to look like the blocks have been tied together. Do just one or two walls but never the whole room – that’s a little bit too much patchwork!
