P90X2 Equipment Needed for a Great Workout

There are a lot of misconceptions about the type of P90X2 equipment needed to perform the workout routines successfully. Unlike some of the other Beachbody workouts, you will need to purchase extra equipment with the P90X2 workout program. If you choose the Ultimate or Deluxe kit from Beachbody, you’ll receive some of the P90X2 equipment with your order. If you purchase just the base set, you’ll need to buy each piece of equipment separately. You’ll need a stability ball, resistance gear and several other key pieces of equipment to complete all of the workout routines.

Use this guide to P90X2 equipment to get the most out of your workout program:

P90X2 Equipment – Required

The P90X workout program requires dumbbells, resistance bands and a pull-up bar to perform the strength training segments. You’ll need the same resistance gear for the P90X2 workout program, as well as the following workout equipment:

Stability ball – a versatile piece of equipment that can help you perform some of your core strengthening moves. The Deluxe and Ultimate kits come with stability balls.

Medicine balls – you’ll need at least four weighted balls to perform some of the functional exercises in P90X2. Make sure you choose weights that you’re comfortable holding and carrying for extended periods of time. You can replace these with a basketball, soccer ball or volleyball.

Foam roller – used to perform deep stretches and help to improve muscle recovery. This is another piece of equipment that will take some getting used to if you’ve never used it before.

Yoga blocks – you’ll need these for balance and they will help you maintain good form when performing various yoga stretches.

Pull-up assist bar – you’ll need this if you don’t want to modify the pull-up moves with resistance bands. If you’ve always struggled with pull-ups, the pull-up assist bar can help you perform pull-ups properly.

P90X Equipment – Optional

There are a few pieces of equipment that are considered to be “luxury items” because you can perform modified moves of certain exercises without them. Still, having them will make it easier to exercise good form with each routine and reduce the risk of injury.

A weighted bar can help you perform some of the resistance exercises in P90X2 but it can be hard to get used to if you’ve never incorporated one into your workouts before. The P90X2 Ultimate kit comes with a set of Power Stands, a must for anyone who struggles with pushups. These stands can help you perform your chest routines with good form.

You can’t do the P90X2 workout without some special pieces of equipment. At the very least, you will need a stability ball, medicine balls and resistance gear. Make sure you’re well-prepared for the P90X2 workout program by purchasing at least the required equipment listed above.
