My Memories of Christmas

1981 was one Christmas I’ll never forget. I was nine year’s old and it was held at my aunt’s place. It’s one of the reasons why I was able to become a writer.
It started out like every Christmas before. I got what wanted from Santa Claus and think I got clothes as well.
Near the end of the day, there was one more gift for me under my aunt’s tree. It looked rather thin, so I thought it was a another article of clothing.
When I opened it up, to my surprise, it was a Speak ‘n Spell computer game.
Apparently, the whole family chipped in to get it for me.
At that time, electronic games like that cost over $80 Canadian. It may not seemed like a lot, but at that time it was for my parents. I practically beg for a Speak ‘n Spell, but my mom told me that was too much money, so I didn’t expect to get it.
Another memorable Christmas was a year later, 1982. The big trend back then was a video game called Pac-Man.
Knowing that my dad would never buy me a video game system, I came across a small mid-way version of the game in a Sears catalogue. When I showed my mother, though, she said it was too much money, but we found a Pac-Man board game for half the price, so we decided to get that and I was okay with it.
Christmas morning came around, I was up about six o`clock. Under the tree there was a huge box with my name on it. When I opened up, I was in shock. There stood the Pac-Man game I wanted. My siblings, who were all adults with jobs went together and got it for me. There could of been other family members involved but I`m not sure.
I remember my mother being a little upset because I didn`t wait until everybody got up.
All and all, the greatest memory of Christmas is that we were all together as a family, seeing the streets lit up by Christmas lights in the evenings leading up to that special day, and going to church on Christmas Eve.
