Motorola Droid 3 Review

.

I have had several smart phones and the Droid 3, dual core processor at 1 Ghz, android based phone is by far the best and fastest smart phone I have ever owned. Not only is it the fastest, but it also is the most user friendly. I didn’t even have to get out the manual to set it up and start using it. The large keyed slide out keyboard is much nicer then onscreen keyboards and the Droid 3 has a fifth row of numbers so no more holding a letter down or switching to the number mode. The apps are self explanatory. The display is a whopping 960 x 540 touch screen that works very well to touch. The 16GB internal memory far exceeds the needed space for an average phone user for text, email and browsing the web, then you add a SD memory card and you have a lot of memory for very little money. So the Droid 3 could be used by the busiest businessperson to the average smart phone user.

The 8 mp camera is better than most families home digital camera and the availability to take 1080 p HD videos with this smart phone makes it a must on vacations or get togethers. The Motoprint allows you to share with facebook, flickr, Picasa, and send off to be printed at various places. It also has a frontal camera for video chat calls. With the Android Market and Verizon Media Market, there are literally thousands of apps and widgets you can get for this phone, free and paid ones. The phone does come pre installed with several apps, widgets and programs, like Kindle, books, City ID, DLNA, GoToMetting, Help Center, News, Nova, Quick Office, V-Cast and many more. At a price of about $199.99 with a two year contract or $459.99 without a contract, the Droid 3 is well worth it’s price.

The downside of the Droid 3 is the battery life. A phone with this much power and capability uses a lot of power and the more you use it the faster your battery goes dead. Also the pre-installed apps and widgets cannot be uninstalled. The phone is not built for being rugged either. You need a protective case for this type of phone. It is not built for ruggedness and needs a protective case.

In closing, I would not suggest the Droid 3 for anyone except an adult. It’s a smart phone that was made for socializing, doing business and extreme web browsing. I also wouldn’t suggest the Droid 3 for a kid because of the front video. It would not be good to have this feature unsupervised. All and all the Droid 3 surpasses any other phone I have owned.
