Motorcycle Review: 2011 Victory Vision Tour

Let’s get this out of the way at the get go – the Victory Vision Tour’s mission is comparison to the Road Glide Ultra. Victory defines itself as an American manufacturer of V-Twin motorcycles. Clear enough?

The point is to be a Harley alternative. This is the only motorcycle that doesn’t require mechanical ability, but can be ridden to Sturgis.

With an Arlen Ness Signature Edition Vision Tour, you get more attention than a Holly star. This bike is really similar to Arlen’s personal ride. People want to talk to you everywhere you go.

As a lawyer specializing in motorcycle accidents, I am lucky enough to know Arlen’s touch with customizing. The Victory Tour handles everything I lug around to ride a motorcycle to court, and to look like a lawyer when I get there.

No one fails to notice the Ness signature edition. Arlen’s outrageous design looks so right, everything else looks plain. Not just a collection of bolt-on chrome, the bike includes details like diamond cutting the cylinders, blacked out trim panels with scrolled detailing, and lots of Arlen’s detail parts. Arlen signs each of the bikes. You have to feel cool on this bike.

This is a big bike. Intimidating at first, but surprisingly easy to ride. Lowered and with a low seat, handling at low speeds is far better than you would ever imagine. Higher speeds through fast sweepers are impossibly easy for this big bike. Riding it is a Cadillac kind of experience. Cruise control and a great stereo keep you interested on a long ride, and the weight plus the really thick padding of the seat mean you can sit for a long time. Riding across Nevada leaves you ready for more, not feeling used up at the end. Waiting to start the day is exciting, better when the engine sounds begin. The Ness model comes with a shorter windscreen, which is great, because the engine heats up your right leg, and the extra air feels good.

Stuff fits like crazy in the wild looking hard side bags, and if the trunk doesn’t hold it, you should not be carrying it on a motorcycle. It’s a huge trunk, period.

Reliable? Try bulletproof. Like a blender. Forget problems on the road, they just don’t happen. Mileage is amazing, and the tank is huge.

If you want a Harley, but want ultimate motorcycle comfort without hassles more, get the Vision.
