Michelle Suffers Miscarriage with Her 20th Child: Why the ’19 Kids and Counting’ Mom Should Stop Having Kids

Breaking headlines this week is the news that Michelle Duggar has suffered a miscarriage with her 20th child. As reported by People magazine, the typically optimistic mother was 16 weeks pregnant when her doctor could no longer find the baby’s heartbeat. Per her doctor’s urging, the mother of 19 allowed the miscarriage to occur naturally. The news is sad, and has many people talking about whether it is wise for the Duggars to continue having children. Here is a look at three reasons why Michelle Duggar should stop having children.

Her Priority Should be Her Health

While the Arkansas based family is best known for continually expanding, it may no longer be in their best interest. Miscarriages not only affect the fetus but the mother as well. While the southern sweetheart clearly loves children and has long stood by her decision to have “as many children as God will allow,” it is becoming abundantly clear that her health may be adversely affected if she continues on this route.

Rough Pregnancies

The “19 Kids and Counting” star has had a rough go of it lately, when it comes to her pregnancies. In 2009, she gave birth to a daughter Josie at just 25 weeks gestation. Giving birth to a baby 15 weeks premature is scary for any family. Josie was born at just 1 lb, 6 oz. and is now considered healthy. Follow up that pregnancy with a miscarriage, and the Duggars definitely have a healthy portion of worry on their plates.

19 Children is Enough

TLC’s conservative duo should consider calling it quits on making more babies, and focus on the children they already have. 19 children is more than most parents could handle, and it appears they have a good handle on providing a good life for their family. Rather than risking Mrs. Duggar’s and another baby’s life, it may be wise to put any future pregnancies on the back burner.
