In a world full of turmoil, heartache, and confusion peace is often sought but rarely found. People will do anything for peace. Not only for peace around them, but peace in their hearts. I was on a similar journey years ago and since I found peace I’ve never had to search again.
I was a lonely broken teenager from a dysfunctional home. My parents were separated and I was often left to tend to myself. The weight of everything going on around me was too heavy to bear. I spent most of my days crying and seeking for a greater purpose in life. ” There’s gotta be more to life than heartache and pain.” I’d tell myself. I tried new things to bring happiness in my life. I searched in vain in the world to fill the empty void in my life. But it only left me longing for something more. Life was hopeless and not worth living.
I contemplated many times just giving up. Those around me didn’t know how to help me out of my bitter state. I was so low, and I didn’t have anyone to pull me up. I decided that I would go visit my mom far away. Even miles didn’t change my heart or life. Through my journey as a hopeless lost teen I found someone who did change my life forever. His name is Jesus Christ.
I’m not a religious person. I didn’t embrace religion. I embraced something better than religion. I embraced God. Religion can still leave you longing for something more, but once you meet the Savior there’s nothing better than God himself. He filled the empty void in my life with peace and gave me something worth living for. He did what no one else could do.
Once I met the Savior, I was a different person. He saved my soul, but he also changed my life. I gave up many worldly things so my life could testify that I am a Christian. When I gave up those sinful things God replaced them with something better. Better things that won’t leave scars on my life like sin did. I am a Baptist by choice, but I am a child of God by birth. I was born in the family of God and found peace that will never go away. If you’re longing for peace, the answer is Christ.
