Lake Erie, Help Ease the Shoreline Pollution

The great lakes are truly great, the proof is in the name, and they account for 18 percent [EPA] of the world’s fresh water supply, sadly, shoreline pollution has become a great casualty, and our fear of trashcans has left a sour mark on the world’s largest pool of sweetest waters.

What I saw

I saw tampons, candy wrappers, plastic bottles and many forms of personal trash. I say personal because I do not think that Pepsi cola dumped empty bottles nor did Johnson and Johnson trash away tampons and condoms. Though big industry plays a part, we are responsible for pollution on personal levels; the cumulative effect can be devastating.

More trashcans

So I started to wonder were this trash comes from? That is a topic waiting research, but apparently, I talked to a local boy named Tim, and he suggested that more trashcans needed to be available, and as we spoke, he picked up a discarded condom wrapper. Case solved.

The cost

Those lakes are home to various forms of aquatic life, and on a child like level, I imagined how we could survive if people dumped trash in our houses, imagine what the fishes say about our behavior.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Proactive Conclusion

So when ever you are at the lakes, in a boat or on land, please be responsible with your trash and waste, do not leave a trail of garbage, lest you become the trash monster… a scary but sad reality.
