As the country prays for two missing children, Lisa Irwin and Jahessye Shockley, another mother faces each day without her child. Kyron Horman, was last seen when he attended a Science Fair with his step-mother at his elementary school in Portland Oregon, on June 4, 2010. He was never seen again, and his step-mother Terri Horman has been in the bullseye of suspicion. When Kyron first went missing, his parents Kaine Horman and Desiree Young presented a united front with their spouses, Terri Horman and Tony Young. Even at that early time, there were comments at how Terri appeared. She looked to be crying, but there were no tears, while Desiree was beside herself with grief, Terri looked out of place. Terri would appear at times with Desiree, the women appearing to console each other.
Why Suspect Terri?
As time passed and the investigators checked cell phone records, interviewed witnesses and looked into the family backround, Terri became the point of suspicion. There were reports of Terri asking someone to kill Kaine Horman, before Kyron went missing. Reports were that she was upset because Kaine did not want her son living with them. As more reports came to light, Kaine Horman filed for divorce and Terri moved in with her parents in Roseburg, Oregon. By this time, Desiree was sure that Terri was not being truthful about the events the day that Kyron went missing. Terri has not been publicly named a suspect, but when there is no one else who was with Kyron and no one seen him after he went to the school, it would be hard not to suspect Terri.
The First Year
Desiree Young spent the first year after Kyron went missing, doing what she could to help keep her childs face in the news. She hoped that someone had seen something or maybe that Terri had told someone something. There was talk of evidence pointing to Terri and a friend, but that lead soon dried up. There seemed to be a break in the relationship between Desiree and Kaine, He no longer appeared with Desiree at rallies and occasions in honor of Kyron. Desiree appeared on television asking for anyone who knew anything to come forward. No new leads came in. Desiree has publicly said she knows that Terri is responsible for Kyrons disappearance. She has held rallies close to the home where Terri is living, asking Terri to come forward and tell what she knows. She has passed out fliers in Terri’s neighborhood, asking the neighbors to question Terri about Kyron, to no avail.
The Sixteenth Month Of Missing Kyron
Desiree Young has publicly stated that now she believes her son is dead. She said that she dreams of finding Kyron and bringing him home. She has not given up and has a band of supporters who stand beside her. On November 12 ,2011, there will be a Run For Kyron , at Heron Lakes Golf Course in Portland, Oregon. When Kyron went missing he was 3’8, 50 lbs, with blue eyes and brown hair. If you have any information please think of what Desiree Young has gone through. On a personal note- I have followed this story from the beginning. Seeing that adorable little boy, smiling with his whole life ahead of him, just broke my heart.
