IRS to Hold Four Northern California Real Estate Auctions

Looking for a real estate investment in Northern California? The IRS recently sent a nationwide news release highlighting four real estate sales in Modesto and Yuba City. Among the sales are low minimum bid prices starting at $49,400 to $164,000. All auctions begin on Sept. 1, 2011 starting at 11 a.m. PDT. However, the details of each open house and the ways to purchase these properties without being at the auction vary.

How to buy from an IRS real estate auction

It is a common misconception that you will need to be at the auction at the time of sale. Instead, most pages at the IRS Real Estate auction website shows where you can mail in your bid. Along with the printed out form, you must include a check for a percentage of the bid amount. The check must include the parcel number or other information contained on the mail-in bid webpage for each auctioned item.

If you wind up being the top bidder, you will get the auctioned property free and clear as long as you mail in the rest of the money within 45 days. Of course, you can also show up in person on the day of the auction to make sure that you get a chance to outbid the mail-in bids.
