The DELL® studio XPS 16 is an ideal laptop for the small business man. I got my DELL studio XPS 16 on the year 2009. The studio XPS has not only given me an edge on everything I do but has outperformed most of my competitors in style.
As a SAP Business One consultant, I needed to travel a lot to do presentations and demonstrations to clients around Sri Lanka. The DELL studio XPS 16 is capable of operating in Windows 7 and operating Windows XP using Oracles VM Virtual Box. Now to make matters more interesting I installed SQL server 2005 standard Edition® and installed SAP Business One 2007 on the Windows XP® client . The result was amazing.
The SAP Business One® 2007 instance performed better than my client’s SAP Business One 2007 instance installed in a server. In my presentations they were amazed at the performance of my laptop. Added with the sleek design it truly gave me an edge and certain level of respect.
The screen size is perfect for almost everything that I have done in my lap top. The most attractive feature is the blue ray player and the dual head phones. I and my wife enjoyed most of our movies while we were on bed having no worries that the sound will wake up our one year old baby.
Truth be told, this is a rock solid lap top. I have personally travelled in to areas where the road conditions are at its worst. The lap top while in the bag had gone flying over from the seat to the floor due to the manner I had to break to stop the vehicle. Up to now no scratches, no unresponsive buttons everything is working perfectly.
As an improvement I would suggest DELL to consider adding another USB port. I use one USB port to activate my lap top cooling pad and the other to connect my USB mini mouse. But when I’m mobile and often need to spend the night in a hotel where there is no Wi Fi I need to plug in my USB 3G dongle to get connected to the internet. At that point I need to scarify my USB mini mouse to plug in the USB 3G dongle.
Overall I would say this is the best laptop that I had one my friends hand carry from USA to Sri Lanka. It’s been a very pleasurable two years DELL studio XPS 16.
