HTC Sensation: A Consumer Review

The HTC Sensation is marketed as “a multimedia superphone” and it is just that. HTC has truly produced a product that can rival other smartphones such as the Motorola’s Droid, the Apple’s iPhone 4, Samsung’s Galaxy S2. The HTC Sensation out performs these phones in a number of ways but also falls short of them in others.

The HTC Sensation operates on the excellent Android system, which has its well known pros and cons compared to Apple’s operating system. Moreover, the HTC Sensation has a dual-core processor, which helps it interface or run several applications at the same time. Many other smartphones can do this, but I would venture to say that the HTC Sensation does so a little more efficiently.

The HTC Sensation has excellent multimedia capability. It has an 8 megapixel camera that takes some of the best shots I have seen a smartphone take. It is also excellent for playing movies or watching television on because it has such a large screen. The few drawbacks here is that the sides are very small so it is hard to hold on its sides while watching a movie and if you are watching outside the screen is very hard to view in sunlight. This is a big point where other phones have surpassed the HTC Sensation because the iPhone, for instance, has better visibility in sunlight.

The battery life goes very quickly on the HTC Sensation, which is nothing new for any other smartphones but is still an apparent drawback. The battery and the micro SD are hard to access because the entire back of the HTC Sensation is detachable so HTC has added a tiny clasp to keep it locked in place, which makes it extremely difficult to get off.

The HTC Sensation is not as thin and light weight as some smartphone, but this is little to sacrifice in order to gain high-performance in multimedia applications. Moreover, the HTC Sensation functions on a utilitarian level as just a phone extremely well. The screen is great for texting because the keys have pin-point accuracy, which is a step up than many of the other smartphone electronic keyboard. The in-call sound quality is excellent and in-call the HTC Sensation functions as expected. It is ultimately a great phone that all-in-all is of comparable quality to the other smartphones on the market.
