How to Make Money with Ebay

It’s hard to make money on eBay when you’re new. Hours and hours of searching only lead you to a pay site or being told just to sell your old stuff. If you can make a living selling your old stuff you are probably already rich. Most people making money with eBay are not going to share their secrets with you because then you’ll be their competition. The people that want to sell you a book don’t make money off eBay they make money off the book they are selling you. I can bet over half of them never made a dime off eBay. I’m going to let you in on how I make money on eBay. It’s not going to make you rich, but if you work at it you can definitely make a living.

Liquidation

When a company has merchandise they want to offload they commonly put it on a liquidation site like liquidation.com. This is good for you because you can buy stuff way cheaper than retail. The key here is to know what to look for. People commonly bid on returned iPods and laptops because they sale well, but you don’t want to do this. There is too much competition for these items and they usually go for much more than there worth. You are going to want to look for things with good profit and low competition. For example I found an auction for a bunch of blank CDs and there was a good variety including DVD-R, DVD-R DL, CD-Rw, CD-R, mini disk, etc. Well I researched all these and figured I could make a good profit because I found that the DVD-R DL go for $1 a piece on eBay and there were over 300 of them in this lot. I only paid $200 for the whole lot and the rest was all profit. When I bought the lot It was marked returns because the CD packs were all open. All I had to do was make sure the CDs were not used before, which was easy because you can tell just by looking at the bottom of the disk. What I found is that over 95% of the disk were not used. Try to find deals like this and remember to look for high profit and low competition.

Craigslist

Craigslist is a good place to buy items to sell on eBay. Sometimes people will let items go for a lot less then they are worth. Try to looking up an iPod touch. They sell for over $100 on eBay even if it’s a 8GB old model. If you search craigslist people sale them between $50-$70 all the time. You have to be quick though because other people are doing the same thing so check multiple times a day and be sure to contact the seller as soon as you see the item for sale. Also don’t be afraid to talk them down on the price when you get there. It doesn’t hurt to ask even if you get the item $5 less that is $5 more profit. If you want to go big you can try buying and selling cars. Jeep Wranglers are in high demand and can often be sold for profit . I bought a 1995 Jeep wrangler on Craigslist for $2000 and ended up selling it for a quick $3000. That is a lot of profit but there is also more risk, so make sure you know what you’re doing before you buy. Remember to research, research, and then research some more. Also if you are going to be selling cars, depending on your laws in your state you may only be able to sale five a year without your dealers license.

Goodwill

Goodwill Is a great place to find items to sale on eBay because you can find anything there. Did you know somebody found an original United States Constitution at a goodwill store? It was valued at around $300k. I’m not saying this will be you but there is still a lot of money to be made. In clothing look for golf polo shirts, Abercrombie shirts, leather jackets, ties, and belts. For a golf polo shirt look for Nike. Just look at the tag inside the shirt and if it says Nike golf pull it out and take a look. Make sure the shirt is in good condition before you buy it. I recommend buying the ones with the checkmark on the sleeve because they sale the best. If you find one you can make around $10-$15 dollars profit. It’s not a lot but If you find three or four it starts to add up. The Abercrombie girl shirts sale really good on eBay. Some used ones go for more then $30 but as I said before make sure there in good condition. Nobody wants to buy a shirt with a ketchup stain even if they do like it. When buying a leather jacket make sure it’s %100 real leather. I wouldn’t waste my time on fake leather because they don’t sale as well. I don’t know much about ties because I never really got into them but my friend found a $90 tie at goodwill before so it might be worth the research. When buying belts I would look for something unique and made from real leather. Other things you can look for are old electronics and decorations. Some electronics sale good on eBay even old ones you just have to do the research. For the decorations I would look for anything themed. People love themed things. For example If someone likes dolphins they are going to search for dolphin stuff on eBay and you’ll be surprised what they will pay. Also another tip is try to go to goodwill on a Monday most people go on weekends and by then every things picked over.
