How to Dress for the Big Game

Ready for the big game? Whether you cheer for professional sports, college, high school or little leagues, dressing for the event is part of the fun. Hang out with friends on the sidelines and show your support for the team.

Separates
Invest in separates in the team colors. You do not have to sport a logo to fit in with the crowd, but you do not want to wear the wrong colors. Wearing blue to an Ohio State game, or a red sweater surrounded by Michigan fans will not make you popular with the crowd. For example, you can slip on black pants, a combination of solid color tank tops, jacket or cardigan and a scarf.

Animal theme
Many sports teams have a mascot. There are eagles, bears, lions, mustangs and even dolphins. Look for an accessory or two showing your new favorite animal. Animal-themed jewelry is a popular in teen shops now.

No box
You can have school spirit without wearing a boxy, unisex t-shirt. Make it your own by belting a big shirt if this is your only choice at the last minute. Know that there are many more options for showing spirit while keeping your style. Trendy, feminine shapes and colored jerseys are available for pro sports. Popular retailers even carry collegiate collections that are created with trendy fashions in mind.

Leave the purse at home
Avoid carrying a purse to a stadium. Not only will it get in the way of your mad cheering, it may get stepped on or have something spilled on it. A good alternative to your regular purse is a small cross body purse.

Decorate
Even if your outfit is understated, you can have serious fun with extras. Spray your hair, add a temporary tattoo, glitter up or go for a scarf in team colors to tie your hair up. Makeup should be light and sporty. Curl your lashes, and do not go over the top on your hairstyle. A ponytail or half-up half-down style keeps the hair out of your eyes.
