How to Decoupage Directly on Fabric

Plain fabric curtains, pillows, and tablecloths can be given new looks by decoupaging fabric patterns onto the original piece.

You will need:

Plain item to be embellished (Tablecloths, pillows, or napkins) Precut fabric Decoupage for fabric materials (Mod Podge makes one) Paintbrush scissors Decide on design to be decoupaged. Will you be adding flowers, leaves, circles. Now is the time to get creative with your ideas. Cover the backside of fabric to be decoupaged (the leaves, flowers, shapes, etc.) with a light coat of decoupage liquid. Allow twenty minutes to dry. If cutting the fabric to be decoupaged do this now. The original layer of paste will protect your fabric from fraying and allow a clean cut. Apply another coat of decoupage material to the back of the fabric to be decoupaged. Place the prepared fabric where desired on the plain fabric and smooth together. No additional coats of decoupage material are needed.

Enjoy your new piece. This is a great way to add an embellishment without having to worry about sewing.
