The watch I got for Christmas
did not work
my tree kept toppling over
forgot to buy gifts for a friend
or two
lost my car at the mall
deals galore but
my bank account is staggering
on its last legs
beaten by the one-two punch
of the Holidays
and is not expected to make
a comeback until
next year
I know you wanted
those earrings
and are a bit
bothered I spent
the money on scotch
but one does what
one must
