Holiday 2011 and New Year’s Eve Dresses and Accessories

As 2011 approaches its final month, women are thinking about what to wear for the holidays and New Year’s Eve. This season is all about glamor, sparkle and accessories. From formal to flirtatious, there are a variety of sensational ways to express yourself as 2011 turns into 2012.

During her Hamptons Magazine cover party at Georgica Manor in August, new mom Rachel Zoe said about fashion and motherhood, “As women, you still to feel good about yourself so take the extra five minutes and put that lipstick on.” She also described her fashion line as, “Luxury, really incredible tailoring and unbelievable fabrics, just amazing clothes that are not a million dollars.”

Her suggestions are also excellent for the upcoming holiday season. Proper tailoring and fit make any outfit look better without breaking the bank. Adding a touch of lipstick and sparkling makeup is like icing on the cake no matter what women choose to wear. The Zoe Report Holiday Wish List includes sparkling sunglasses, dangling crystal earrings and other must-have items for the season.

According to Helen Terzyan of Hollywood’s Elegant Mart, rich colors are in vogue for the 2011 holiday season. She suggests, “Evening wear in tones of wine, turquoise and teal are in fashion right now. Classic colors that bring back Old Hollywood glamor include metallic shades of silver, bronze and gold as well as a timeless little black dress for any occasion.”

Single shoulder and strapless design are a popular choice with a sheer cardigan thrown over the shoulders. Hand beaded or crocheted cardigans are making a comeback, as well as vintage accessories featuring simulated pearls and rhinestones. Stretch rings and choker necklaces add glitter to the simplest evening wear selections. Those who prefer precious gemstones are adding black diamonds and chocolate diamonds to their jewelry boxes.

Skirt lengths range from very short to long with a train. In keeping with the movie star look of yesteryear, some women are opting for long, slim skirts with a short train. For those who workout at the gym and want to show off their legs, fluffy short cocktail dresses are an ideal pick. The maxi dress is a closet staple for all figure types and ages.

Shoes to match holiday outfits include suede platform pumps and glittering ballet flats in a variety of jewel tones embellished with stones. Comfort is key for dancing all night into 2012 so always choose a shoe that fits and feels good.
