Getting the Best Deals for Halloween Costumes on a Tight Budget

It’s almost Halloween. This is a memorable time of year. As the Indian summer kicks in, and all the leaves start to turn colors, the first holiday that comes to mind is Halloween.

As you know we are in a fairly rough economy right now, and we need to be able to really shop smart and save money where we can. With this in mind, buying a Halloween costume is no exception to saving some substantial cash where most people may spend too much on a costume they may have gotten for extremely less.

So we will go over a few ways on how to shop for Halloween costumes and save money in the process:

1 – Try thinking about a costume that doesn’t relate to a current movie or mass media character.

Many larger movie companies bet on the fact that you will absolutely fall in love with their famed movie characters. So it’s only natural that there will be overpriced licensed movie costumes for you to choose from before this haunted holiday. Take for instance, Harry Potter costumes. “Harry Potter” has quite the large following and these official costumes can cost quite a chunk of change.

The answer here is not to actually purchase the complete “already made costumes”. You can literally put together this type of costume by just purchasing the costume accessories and perhaps getting creative by hitting up your local thrift store.

2 – Try your costume out in a store and the buy your costume online.

This is guaranteed to save you $10-$15 or more. Generally brick and mortar Halloween costume stores will charge a higher premium for your favorite costumes because of the overhead involved in running one of these chain stores. Therefore the added cost is prevalent in the price of the costume and will dent your pockets.

The best thing to do is look around at some local costume shops’ costumes and make a note of what you like. You can even try some of the costumes on! Then, once you know what you like, it’s time to hit up the internet and buy your Halloween costume online cheap.

3 – Do the old “Ghost Sheet Costume”.

This option is for the absolute broke. I mean this costume is basically and old cut out bed sheet with eye holes poked out. This is reserved for those with zero budget, however showing up to a Halloween party with such a lame costume may be extremely funny!

Well, hopefully I’ve shown you a few ways to save money this Halloween when buying a costume. I mean hey, after-all, isn’t Halloween about being creative and giving out some tricks?
